You will read about holistic health information that we use on our own pets and just plain common sense facts along with a list of toxic products that can sicken or kill dogs & cats, this book is also packed with entertaining facts on both dogs & cats. "Awesome Pet Treats" is a work of love for pets and one that I have wanted to write for a very long time. We wanted to share with all pet owners the information we have learned, researched and gathered through-out the 40 years of taking care of rescued, abused and very badly beaten pets.

Our Pet bakery was started & dedicated to our beloved Jordan, who died in 2003 after eating food from a very good Brand of Dog Food. Even though we have stopped making pet treats, we will never stop trying to educate pet owners on the dangers some pet products can cause. Pet food companies need to be accountable for using bad products, making our pets sick or in Jordan's case causing their death.
Pet companies are always changing formula's or being bought out. So many pets are still getting sick. There are several websites keeping a close eye the pet food industry, their buy-outs, formula changes, recalls and so on. If you are feeding your pet Nutro or Canidae; go to google and put in: class action lawsuits against Canidae & Nutro! 
Pets are still getting sick or worse on Chicken jerky pet treats. Almost every package of chicken treats contains chicken from China. If you are in doubt about any ingredient in any pet product, call the company; ask: Is any part of the ingredients coming from China. Every place we have called has admitted using product from China, even though the packaging states: Manufactured in the USA.
There are so many bad pet foods & treats being manufactured & sold. Pets are still getting sick or worse.
I had a pet named Boomer who never ate dog food, we made his own food & he lived to be 18 1/2 years old. Boomer never had any illnesses or health problems. All our other dogs that we feed dog food to, lived at the most, 13 years or less, with lots of illnesses. We were feeding "Charlie" one of the top rated dog foods. Recently he started having problems so we decided to make his food also. Charlie is doing wonderful now. When we asked about the food being changed, the manufacture said they did not change anything. Yet when we went on the pet food project website, they stated that there was a problem. We will never recommend any dog food again.

In memory of Jordan: Jordan came to us on  Dec. 27, 1995  with a broken heart, very abused, extremely scared of all humans. When we adopted Jordan, the only thing Jordan knew was humans hit, kicked and screamed at him, but never loved him, never kissed him, never hugged him, never took care of his hurts - and Jordan was so hurt, mentally & physically.  Jordan never wanted to trust another human being - nor be around humans again.
Jordan, came to us with a chip on his shoulder the size of the entire United States. Jordan distrusted all humanity. It took two long years, but Jordan finally allowed us to love him and then he adopted us. When Jordan died in March 2003, Jordan knew he was loved - completely. Jordan took our broken hearts & tears with him to heaven.
Jordan started getting sick after eating some bad pet food and never recovered. Jordan overcame so much in his little life, to die such a painful, needless death! After Jordan's death, we started checking into what was actually being put into some pet foods & treats. We were shocked & disgusted by what we found. Shortly after, we started making out own pet treats for our remaining dogs.
PLEASE, check into what you are feeding your pet. You do not ever want your pet to go through what Jordan did.
